Updated: Mirror Mirror Salon! And then some...

I'm sure you are wondering why I haven't posted anything in a while. This is due to the nature of my classes this term. Lots of drawing, web design and art history. Happily, I finished my website, and then some, for my web design class.

For web design, I decided to re-do the Mirror Mirror Salon Website. You can read about my previous experience with it here. This time I used dreamweaver and css. Soooo, much better!

You can visit Mirror Mirror Salon's NEW website here.

Next, order of business. While working on the Mirror Mirror Salon website, I am in the process of working on Ken's (my bf's) company website.  Please keep in mind it is in the very early stages but at least you can get an idea!

You can visit Venom Games' website here.

Look! I'm famous!

Ok, no not really but, I did get three pieces of my artwork posted in the hallway of school for fall term. Our hallways are like an art gallery. Everyone that tours the school looks at the pieces to get a glimpse of the work and ability of the students. So, to prove it to you I'd thought I'd post the pictures of them! :)

project 4: catalog for portland center stage

This project was the final stage in our portland center stage campaign. I created a catalog that was about 5.5in x 8in. I experimented with the use of whitespace in design.

"letterly" gone crazy...

Haven't seen me in a while? It's because I was "letterly" going crazy. Here is my final project for Typography Two. This is the font (technically called "typeface") I designed from scratch. I have been working on it all term and let me tell ya it feels great to be done. To be honest, I actually quite enjoyed it and plan on making more fonts in the future. Need something specific? Hire me! ;-)

Many of you ask what school is like especially finals/midterms and here ya go. This was called a practical midterm and had to be completed in an hour.

Typography Two: Bookcovers

Oh my. OK, so this project was probably the most difficult and hardest I have done thus far at AiPD. I am quite proud of the finished project. Obviously there are things I would change, but as any artist will tell you, something is never finished.

Book covers- The assignment was to create 4 different book covers for an assigned author. My assigned author was James Bond. Oh, and don't let the movies confuse you... they are very different from the books.  On top of the assigned book covers, each cover had an art direction theme. I will explain below.

Book: Octopussy and the Living Daylights
Theme: Illuminated Manuscripts- This means that it must reference illuminated text whether old fashioned or modern.

(If you click on the picture, you can read my explanation in the second paragraph.)

Book: Casino Royale
Theme: Distressed/Textured Type

(If you click on the picture, you can read my explanation in the second paragraph.)

Book: Live and Let Die
Theme: Type made out of objects

(If you click on the picture, you can read my explanation in the second paragraph.)

Book: The Spy Who Loved Me
Theme: Hand-drawn type

(If you click on the picture, you can read my explanation in the second paragraph.)

Projects 1-3: Digital Layout and Design

This is campaign project for Portland Center Stage downtown. We were asked to do postcards, a brochure, a interactive pdf and a booklet (soon to come). Ideally, the theme throughout the project should be the same but it didn't quite work out that way. Eventually for my portfolio I will go back and fix it.

The Postcards- We were to create 6 postcards (4 fronts, 2 backs) each with a different idea/theme. Two of the fronts were centered around PCS and the other two were centered around a play.

The Brochure: We were given the information that had to be on the brochure. (I'm not happy with this brochure. I was pressed for time because we were moving. Eventually, I will go back and change it up.)

(backside)

Interactive PDF: So for those of you that don't know, this is a regular pdf that will click to other pages much like a webpage. Because of the nature of the blog, you will not be able to click through it yourself but you will be able to see all the pages. This was quite simple and easy for me to create since I have experience with web design as seen here.

The Booklet: This is a project that we were asked to create an 8 page spread from Portland Center stage. (Soon to come).

we've moved!

OK, so this isn't quite a project for school but it is something I designed. It is the front of the "we've moved" postcard.
